Jaya was born on 21/08/1964 in Ajmer in the family of Sh Vijendra Kumar Sisodia and Late Smt Krishna Kumari Sisodia. She did her schooling from St Mary's Convent School, Ajmer. She went on to do BA (1986) & MA English Literature in 1989 from Government College, Ajmer. She got married to Dr Khem Raj Verma on 26/06/1989 & thereafter shifted to Jodhpur. She gave birth to Karan Raj Verma on 29/04/1990 in Jodhpur. Jaya did MA Political Science in 1998 and later did B Ed in 2008. She worked as a lecturer for three years in Central Modern B Ed College, Jodhpur.She accompanied her husband to Saudi Arabia. On coming back she did Ph D in Political Science in 2012. She is at present a senior subject teacher of Social Science in CBSE affiliated St Paul's School, Jhalamand, Jodhpur. She is a very good playback singer.
